Bertrand Serlet is senior vice president of software engineering at Apple Inc[1]. He succeeded Avie Tevanian to the position in July 2003[2]. In this position he has been primarily responsible for the release of the 10.4 (aka Tiger) and 10.5 (aka Leopard) versions of Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server.
Before Apple he worked at Xerox PARC[1] and NeXT[1].
He spoke at WWDC 2006 on the similarities between Mac OS X Tiger and Windows Vista, including the comparison of Apple's Aqua interface and Microsoft's Aero interface. The video, available on YouTube, has been popular amongst Apple fans.[1]
He has also developed the Workplace manager in NEXTSTEP and OPENSTEP.[citation needed] He also has been the key to porting Mac OS X and other software on the Mac.[citation needed]
